Fred Thomas Jr. is a three-time NAACP Theatre Award winner for his play 12' x 9', taking home Best Director, Best Playwright, and Best Producer. He is an alumnus of Lincoln University (HBCU) and holds a Master's in Film and Media Arts from Temple University. His credits and achievements include founding Temple University's Black Media Collective, being named a Film Independent Screenwriting Fellow, receiving the Writers Guild of America Veterans Writing Program fellowship, serving as a Television Academy member, and starring as one of the originators of the iconic Budweiser "Whassup!" commercial campaign.

 

Fred directed the award-winning short film 22 Years (sold to Nandar Films, Indieflix, Opprime TV, and Shorts TV), which screened at 76 film festivals and won six Best Actress awards, three Best Director awards, and two Best Short Film awards — including a nomination for the Norman Lear IMAGEN Foundation Award, where Fred was personally congratulated by the legendary Mr. Lear. Fred produced The Bachelor Party and wrote, directed, and produced 24 Hour Love (starring Lynn Whitfield) and Ladies Book Club (starring Jackée Harry and Elise Neal), both streaming on Amazon Prime and Apple TV. He shadowed on Men in Black III; co-wrote and directed the live broadcast of Divalogues, a musical stage play for TV One's R&B Divas L.A.; directed and co-created the pilot Lunell's for comedian Luenell; and directed the stage play

Other notable credits include 14 seasons as coordinator for E! Entertainment's Live from the Red Carpet with Ryan Seacrest, covering the Academy Awards, Grammys, Emmys, SAG Awards, People's Choice Awards, and Telemundo Awards. Fred also plays Detective Caine on the ALLBLK series Kold x Windy. He directed the short films How to Rob and BOUND, currently touring the festival circuit. Fred continues to seek groundbreaking projects that educate, stretch the imagination, and bring talented artistic minds together to produce work of the highest quality.
